Scam 2 Euro coins: they are the same or similar to those in progress
All you need to know about the 2 euro coin scam
2 euro coin scam are increasingly the new frontier of organized gangs that take advantage of the inattention of people in front of the “wedges”, especially in crowded places. The alarm was launched by italian Federconsumatori after the occurrence of several episodes of denunciation of business owners who found themselves in the belly 2 Euro coins with no legal tender.
Fraud or error?
It must be said that this is not always a scam, because sometimes there is a real mistake or oversight due to the similarity with currencies that are legal tender in other countries. The most similar currency to our 2 Euros is the Thai one, specifically the 10 Thai baths, which are worth just 25 Italian cents. Both the colors, the shape and the dimensions are very similar to each other, so much that many vending machines are not able to distinguish the difference, which instead does not escape our professional coins.
But beyond the human error scams on the 2 Euro coins are growing, especially in cities like Naples, Rome, Milan and Venice and above all against foreigners. In particular, non-EU tourists have little confidence in European currencies and are the first subjects to be targeted to “trim” the “wrong” coin. When it comes into circulation then, this inevitably arrives at sales points and in places of commercial exchange.
Watching this video you can realize the similarity between our 2 euros and similar ones (but from the decidedly lower counter-value) that our money detector are able to find.
Equipping yourself with a coin counter and sorter or some money detector machine with professional forgery verification could be a way to overcome the problem of 2 euro coin scam.
